ABOUT CAMIKO

US Open Sectionals 2014
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Camiko Smith I am a Professional Golfer from the beautiful island of Bermuda. I turned Pro in 2012. I've represented Bermuda internationally in the 2009 Island Games in Aland and 2011 Island Games in Isle of Wight. In 2009 the team won the Gold Medal in Aland. Most recently I tied the course record 7 under at the par 71 Port Royal Golf Course, Bermuda held by PGA Tour Player and 2013 Masters Champion Adam Scott.
I grew up playing golf at Port Royal Golf Club which would later become home to the the PGA Gram Slam of Golf from 2009-14. I took up the game at a young age but started to play competitively after joining The Bermuda Junior Golf Association when I was 12, spending the majority of my teenage years working hard on improving my game. I would race home from school and head straight to the course where I would stay until dark. Being on the course was my favorite place to be and my Friday nights would be spent at the nearby The Bermuda Golf Academy driving range.
Although I come from a family of athletes, there wasn't anyone in my family that really played the game, besides a family friend that played pretty well. When it came to golf lessons, they was basically just me, a Tiger Woods book and a mirror. I would play sick from school to watch and record the Masters Tournament in April! Along the way, I found help from my golfing elders who would always be there to give a few tips. I am thankful for Eardly Jones, Lloyd James, Frankie Rabain, Rawn Rabain and Cornell Bean, some of the top Pro Golfers in Bermuda.
When I reached my twenties, I wanted to up the ante and decided to compete in US Amateur and Open qualifying events. After turning pro, I haven’t looked back. Even though the pool of golfers trying to make it on tour is vast, I believe that by staying prepared and being patient, my success will come.
Thanks for taking your time to get to know about me,
Sincerely,
Camiko Smith, Future PGA Tour Professional
